Mid-Size Series — 5 Configurations — 33 Countries — Pioneered 1999
Projection Dome — The Mid-Size Galactic Series
More configurations in one series than most providers have in their entire fleet. The Absolute Hollywood Galactic is a mid-size projection dome series spanning from 65 to 160 feet — hemispheric, crane-free, and air-shippable to any location on the planet.
What is the Galactic series
A Mid-Size Projection Dome Series — More Choices Than Most Providers Have Domes
The Galactic is Absolute Hollywood’s mid-size projection dome series — a range of five hemispheric configurations spanning 65 to 160 feet in diameter. Where most immersive dome providers offer one or two sizes, the Galactic series alone gives clients more configurations than many competitors have in their entire fleet. The right size for your event is determined by your audience, your venue, and your program — not by what a provider happens to own.
Every configuration in the Galactic series is hemispheric, inflates from ground level without cranes, ships by air, sea, or road freight, and runs the same full 360° projection and audio system. The diameter changes. The experience does not. To understand how the projection system works inside the dome, see our guide to how 360° projection works.
The Galactic series sits in the mid-range of the Absolute Hollywood fleet — larger than the StratoSphere and Oblong dome series, and purpose-built for events that require serious scale without the full footprint of the 235-foot Celestial Dome. Most competitors max out at 90 or 100 feet. The Galactic series extends to 160 feet — a scale no competitor in the mid-size category reaches.
When you contact Absolute Hollywood, the first conversation is about your event requirements. Audience size, venue footprint, ceiling clearance, access logistics, and program content. The dome configuration follows from that conversation. For a detailed breakdown of transport and setup timelines, see how projection domes are transported and set up.

Capabilities
Interior, Exterior, and Interactive — Every Configuration
Every dome in the Galactic mid-size series delivers immersive experiences in three distinct modes — each available independently or in combination within a single deployment.

Interior 360° Projection
The full hemispheric interior surface becomes a seamless 360° screen. Fulldome video, live visuals, and real-time content wrap every attendee simultaneously. The audience is inside the image — not watching it.

Exterior Projection Surface
The dome fabric serves as an exterior projection surface visible from a distance. Video, lighting, gobos, and laser effects project onto the outside of the dome — making it a landmark visible across the event site or city block.

Interactive Show Systems
Integrated interactive systems respond to individual guests, groups, or live performers. Motion tracking, sensor arrays, and real-time rendering allow the dome environment to react to what happens inside it — used across the Marvel Experience worldwide tour.
Applications
Corporate, Government, and Touring Deployments
Corporate and Fortune 500 Brand Activations
Product launches, brand experiences, incentive trips, and corporate retreats for Fortune 500 clients including IBM, Microsoft, Amazon, and Coca-Cola. IBM deployed an Absolute Hollywood Galactic projection dome at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas in February 2016 for their Open for Data corporate event — top producers from across the organization experienced the brand from inside a fully operational projection dome. Amway USA transformed a one-night celebration trip in Phuket, Thailand in June 2018 into a complete immersive environment inside an Absolute Hollywood Galactic dome, with custom Thai temple theming, live traditional performance, and fine dining curated by the renowned Blue Elephant Restaurant.
Government and Ceremonial Events
National ceremonies, state events, and royal occasions across the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. The Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) inauguration at Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi in April 2011 was held inside an Absolute Hollywood Galactic projection dome — attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The New Suez Canal Grand Opening in Egypt deployed Absolute Hollywood Galactic projection domes as the centerpiece of one of the largest government infrastructure events in the modern era.
Festivals and Touring Productions
Every configuration in the Galactic series is engineered for multi-venue touring. The Marvel Experience (2014–2015) toured seven interconnected Absolute Hollywood Galactic domes through worldwide venues across multiple continents — the largest touring projection dome deployment on record. The same dome that opened in one city was operational in the next within days.
Concert and Live Entertainment
The dome interior becomes a 360° concert environment. Live content, pre-rendered fulldome shows, and real-time visual feeds wrap every surface simultaneously. Concert-specific deployments have included productions for Skrillex and Childish Gambino. The exterior projection surface makes the dome a visible landmark across the event site.

Why Absolute Hollywood
26 Years. 33 Countries. More Configurations Than Others Have Domes.
Absolute Hollywood invented portable inflatable projection dome technology in 1999. The first commercial deployment was at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas in 2000, followed by the MGM Grand and Luxor. That is 23 years before the Las Vegas Sphere opened in September 2023.
The Galactic mid-size series alone spans five configurations from 65 to 160 feet. Most dome providers in the immersive event space offer one or two sizes — many maxing out at 90 or 100 feet. The Galactic series exceeds the top end of most competitors’ entire fleet before reaching its largest configuration. When a client’s venue appears to have a constraint, the answer is almost always a conversation rather than a rejection — contact the team before ruling out a configuration.
In the 26 years since pioneering this technology, Absolute Hollywood has deployed at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, Super Bowl LIV in Miami, the New Suez Canal Grand Opening in Egypt, the COP15 UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen, NCAA Final Four, NASCAR, and the Marvel Experience worldwide touring activation — among hundreds of other deployments across 33 countries.
The full Absolute Hollywood dome fleet extends beyond the Galactic series in both directions. Smaller deployments are served by the StratoSphere and Oblong series. At the top end sits the 235-foot Celestial Dome — configurations exceeding 100,000 square feet of floor space for tens of thousands of guests — the largest portable projection dome on the planet and growing.
What distinguishes Absolute Hollywood from any other provider is not just the range of configurations — it is 26 years of global logistics infrastructure. Freight relationships on every continent. Specialist crews who have installed domes in desert heat, arctic cold, urban plazas, stadium concourses, and open festival fields. A content production pipeline that can deliver custom 360° video for any dome size. And a service model that covers everything from freight arrival to event-ready status and strike.
If your timeline is tight, contact the team immediately. Twenty-six years of experience exists precisely for moments when the window is short and the stakes are high.
Frequently asked questions
Projection Dome — Common Questions
What is a projection dome?
A projection dome is an inflatable hemispheric structure that serves as both the venue and the 360° projection screen. Multiple high-resolution projectors map seamlessly across the interior surface, wrapping every attendee in synchronized video, lighting, and sound. The audience is inside the image, not watching it from outside.
How many size configurations are available in the Galactic projection dome series?
The Galactic mid-size series spans five configurations from 65 to 160 feet (20 to 49 meters) in diameter. The right configuration for your event is determined by audience size, venue footprint, ceiling clearance, and program requirements — Absolute Hollywood assesses all of these before recommending a size. Contact the team with your event details before ruling out any configuration based on a single dimension.
How long does it take to set up a projection dome?
Structural dome installation for the Galactic series takes one to three days depending on configuration. Projection system installation, warp mapping, and calibration are scheduled separately and add additional time based on projector count and show complexity. No cranes are required at any stage.
Can a projection dome be used outdoors?
Yes. All Absolute Hollywood Galactic projection dome configurations are designed for outdoor deployment as standard. Every installation is engineered to meet local temporary building code wind requirements. Typical wind ratings fall in the 90 to 120 MPH range, though the dome is configured to meet whatever the applicable code requires.
