Built Like a Pro-Series Globe — Not a Bounce House

Most giant snow globes sold today are built on an inflatable air-mattress floor. It is the same construction as a bouncy castle. The floor moves underfoot, which rules out a great deal: anyone unsteady on a shifting surface, guests in heels, wheeled product displays, fabricated sets that need to stand level, and guests using a wheelchair. And the typical guest weight limit on an air-mattress floor is 600 lb in total — roughly three adults at a time.

Every Absolute Hollywood globe is built on a rigid, ground-level flat floor with no weight limit. That single decision is what lets a model house, a display vehicle, a full themed set or a crowd of guests occupy the same globe without a compromise.

We created this product. Absolute Hollywood built the first giant inflatable snow globe in 1999, and every globe since has been made to the same standard: a solid floor, real materials, and graphics printed to a proof you approve before anything goes to press.

How Zipper Entry Works

A full-height zipper runs down the sphere. Unzip it, guests and props enter, zip it closed. The blower runs continuously and the globe re-seats itself after each entry. We place the zipper in front of or behind the backdrop — your choice — so the globe is built around how you intend to use it.

It is the simplest way into a giant snow globe, and it is why zipper entry is what most of the market sells. One thing worth knowing before you order: if you are a corporation, an event promoter or a municipal government, and the globe has to be accessible to every guest, with safety and orderly public queuing paramount, look at the Airlock snow globe photo booth before you decide. Plenty of those same buyers still choose the zipper on price, and it serves them well — we would simply rather you saw both.

Pro-Series Zipper Entry vs. Bounce-House Snow Globes

The globes sold against this page look similar in a photograph and are not the same object. Most are bounce-house stock — an inflated air-mattress floor, a weight limit per guest, and a shutdown in the first stiff breeze. Sixty seconds with this chart is usually the whole procurement conversation:

Two things this model does not do: it does not offer true ground-level wheelchair entry, and from 12 ft up it settles at about six guests per photo because the globe loses air each time the zipper opens. Sixteen feet is the working size for a mall atrium or a municipal celebration — the Government of Singapore chose one for its staff holiday event. From 20 ft up the globe stops being a display and becomes the venue’s landmark: on a parade float, on a stage, or on a film set, visible from the far end of the street.

From 12 ft up you are buying presence, not capacity. A zipper globe loses a little air each time it opens, so the comfortable count settles around six — but a 24 ft globe reads from the far end of a street and swallows a full set. That is what the larger sizes buy.

These figures are a guide to a comfortable photo with room to enter and exit, not maximum occupancy. Props reduce them, and on larger installations the authority having jurisdiction governs occupancy and egress.

Who Trusts Pro-Series Zipper — and Why

Retail brands use them because a branded globe on a public street is an activation people walk toward. Municipalities and parade committees use them because they travel, light up, and survive a night outdoors. Convention organizers use them because a globe with a real floor can hold whatever the client wants photographed. In November 2004 Yahoo asked Absolute Hollywood to build the world’s largest interactive snow globe and set it down in Times Square for Black Friday.
