Large Projection Dome Rental — One Roof, Nothing Holding It Up But Air
Step inside and the room disappears. Imagery wraps the full 360 degrees around and above you — floor to zenith — while the outside of the dome — exterior projection mapping or a custom-printed dome cover — becomes a second screen visible across a city after dark. This is what a large projection dome rental from Absolute Hollywood delivers: the largest portable projection domes available anywhere, from an intimate 70-foot theater to a 900+ foot national landmark.
The 235-foot Celestial is the flagship — 43,373 square feet of clear-span floor, 8,700 guests, and not a single pole, cable or sightline obstruction in the room. Around it stands a complete lineup of large projection domes at 75, 80, 115, 160 and 200 feet, with extra large builds beyond.
Domes deploy as temporary event venues, as semi-permanent seasonal installations, and as permanent immersive venues — installed, managed and programmed turnkey by Absolute Hollywood.
The Celestial has stood for the Government of Qatar in Doha, Qatar, and the same large projection dome ships to any coastline it is asked for.

What Is a Large Projection Dome?
A large projection dome is a full 360° theater 70 feet across or wider: imagery covers the entire interior surface, and the exterior doubles as a projection landmark after dark. Most providers’ geodesic domes stop near 30 meters — about 100 feet. Absolute Hollywood’s large domes begin at 70 feet and extend to 900+ feet.
The industry uses three size classes. A standard projection dome runs 20 to 70 feet. A large projection dome runs 70 to 900+ feet. Within that class, an extra large projection dome is any dome above 235 feet — where Absolute Hollywood keeps building and most providers stop. These mega dome structures are the 235-foot Celestial and everything beyond it. Absolute Hollywood builds across every class — and suppliers who advertise larger structures often cannot actually supply them. More than once, the dome that finally arrived at an event promised elsewhere was built and operated by Absolute Hollywood.
That is the class of large projection dome Absolute Hollywood raised for the inauguration of the New Suez Canal at Ismailia, Egypt — a national-landmark deployment on open ground, built and struck to a government timetable.

Dome Sizes — 70 to 900+ ft, Large and Extra Large
Absolute Hollywood builds large projection domes from 70 feet (21 meters) to 900+ feet (274 meters). Every size deploys crane-free and is air-shippable worldwide — for rental, or as an installed and managed venue.
Large projection domes — the 70 to 235 ft builds, by diameter.

The 75-foot dome was created exclusively for Saint-Gobain’s 350th anniversary at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The 80-foot dome ran IBM’s conference and training event outside the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas in 2016 — custom exterior branding visible day and night, with custom fold-down 360° projection inside. The same 70–160-foot sizes anchor the Galactic series on our projection dome rental page, power immersive experiential marketing activations programs for general sessions and launches, and headline festival deployments across the full projection domes fleet.
Extra Large — Above 235 Feet. AH-Only Territory.
Beyond the flagship, size is stated as floor area — published with occupancy at every scale, to 200,000 square feet and 40,000 guests. No other provider operates in this class.
| Floor Area | Standing | Theater Seated | Banquet |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50,000 sq ft (4,645 m²) | 10,000 | 8,330 | 5,000 |
| 100,000 sq ft (9,290 m²) | 20,000 | 16,670 | 10,000 |
| 150,000 sq ft (13,935 m²) | 30,000 | 25,000 | 15,000 |

How Large Is the Celestial Dome?
Numbers alone do not convey what a 235-foot large projection dome means in practice. The Celestial’s 43,373 square feet of clear-span floor is about one acre under one roof with nothing holding it up but air — and larger than any projection dome deployment on public record, including the 40,000 square foot structure publicly described as the world’s largest.
The large projection dome stands 78 feet (24 meters) tall at center — high enough to fly production, stage full concert rigging, and hold a crowd of 8,700 without a single sightline obstruction.

For Scale — What 235 Feet Actually Means
For scale: the flagship Celestial — the largest large projection dome Absolute Hollywood builds — spans 235 ft (72 m) and clears 43,373 sq ft of column-free floor in a single span — no internal supports, no sightline breaks, nothing holding it up but air.
Compared to a conventional ballroom of the same footprint, every square foot is usable and every seat faces the same 360° surface: 8,700 guests standing, 7,230 in theater seating or 4,340 at banquet rounds. Large projection domes at 70, 75, 80, 115, 160 and 200 feet carry the same geometry at smaller diameters. Above the flagship diameter, the class is stated as floor area rather than diameter — to 200,000 sq ft and sizes to 900+ ft.
Amazon, Las Vegas — 200 Feet, Three Days, Lasers Through the Night
In 2018, Amazon brought its Las Vegas corporate celebration inside a 200-foot Celestial — a full large projection dome rental deployment — crane-free, in three days — with 31,416 square feet of unobstructed floor, more than 4,000 guests through the evening performances, and imagery wrapping every one of them in 360 degrees.
The mechanism is what makes the scale possible: a positive-pressure air structure where air holds the dome up and the fabric itself is the projection surface. No interior frame members sit in the projection path, so the Celestial needs no internal liner — it is opaque and projects clean, inside and out. Frame domes must hang an inner screen to conceal structural pipes before projection is usable at all.
The centerpiece was a customized immersive laser shell, created specifically for Amazon’s guests — light enclosing the room on every side, with multiple shows running through the night, so the venue itself kept performing from the first arrival to the last.
The dome was erected in three days — the compressed schedule the specifications call achievable, delivered when Amazon’s calendar required it. Projection, audio and show control on their own timeline. One venue, delivered to the event.

The 160-Foot Class — Where the Big Tours Live
The Marvel Experience toured Scottsdale, Dallas and Del Mar in 2014–2015 on Absolute Hollywood’s Dome 160 platform — seven interconnected domes deployed simultaneously, a traveling immersive campus that set the template for multi-dome touring production.
Childish Gambino’s Pharos ran twice on the Dome 160: the desert premiere at Joshua Tree, California, in 2016, then a 3,600-capacity dome with a full 360-degree stage at Tāpapakanga Regional Park near Auckland, New Zealand, in November 2018 — three nights of camping, unreleased music and the Guava Island trailer premiere.
In 2024, 50 Cent headlined the Humor and Harmony Charity Festival in Shreveport, Louisiana, under the same Dome 160 — full exterior 360° projection running to the very cap of the dome. Different continents, different formats — the same touring-class large projection domes, standing in one to four days. As a festival venue, the large projection dome is the touring class’s most proven format — headline concerts, camping festivals and multi-night music programs on three continents.

What Absolute Hollywood Domes Deliver
Imagery is delivered by Christie and Barco professional laser projectors — laser-phosphor and RGB pure-laser, 3-chip DLP, 4K and beyond — driven by the proprietary Sirius Media Server.

Bring your content in any format and any workflow. Over 27 years we have run the field’s major systems — Disguise, Dataton WATCHOUT, Christie Pandoras Box, Green Hippo, Resolume and TouchDesigner among them — alongside real-time engines including Notch, Unreal Engine and Unity.

Content is mastered in dome master, fisheye and equirectangular formats and delivered with edge blending, geometry correction and camera-based auto-alignment across the full 360° interior of the large projection dome. One seamless picture, mapped to the curve of the dome by the Sirius Media Server — and where a production calls for a different pipeline, Absolute Hollywood runs it. At the Government of Qatar Royal Wedding in Doha, 2008, an original 360° production filled the 200 ft Celestial with a turning galaxy, driven on a Green Hippo server through Christie projection. Musicians played live in a tent alongside the dome and were carried into the imagery as six silhouettes, each framed in an Arabic archway, set against the stars — with the sound broadcast through the dome so the music arrived from everywhere at once. Two 60 ft StratoSpheres flanked the Celestial at Doha, connected by tunnels with no airlock and no revolving door — an open walkthrough between all three domes. One held an ultra-private lounge for the principal party. The other held a full working kitchen, so hundreds of covers could be plated steps from the room and served to every guest at the same moment, as high-end hospitality in the Gulf requires. Original fulldome content is produced in house — for Childish Gambino’s Pharos in New Zealand, Absolute Hollywood mastered the full 360° show in dome master and equirectangular formats, then played it back under the dome on the same pipeline that drives every large projection dome deployment.

Edge blending and geometry correction are calibrated on site rather than assumed: at Skrillex’s Full Flex Express show at the Los Angeles Coliseum, overlapping projector fields were blended into one seamless 360° interior surface, with camera-based auto-alignment holding the seams invisible across the whole large projection dome canopy.

A royal event carries a different tolerance for failure than a trade show, and the Doha production was built to it — redundant servers, redundant projection paths and a rehearsed failover.

Over 27 years, Panasonic, Digital Projection and virtually every major professional projection and media platform has run inside these large projection domes — bring the system your show already uses. Exteriors take a custom-printed dome cover for daytime branding, with projection after dark.

Audio is designed per event, never off a fixed spec: ambisonics and spatial sound systems — including Dolby and L-Acoustics-class rigs — have all been accommodated under the dome.
Ambisonic and spatial audio beds are mixed to the large projection dome’s own geometry, so the sound field and the projected image share one origin. Every show is delivered as a dome master and archived, so a returning client redeploys the same content without a rebuild.
The World’s Largest Portable Projection Dome — Live
The Celestial has carried headline concert production, industrial and government launches, corporate events and royal weddings. The large projection dome arrives by air freight, sea container or overland transport, stands in four days, and comes down again. The show runs from the Sirius Media Server, in any format the client brings.
The large projection dome at the 2015 Skrillex party at the LA Memorial Coliseum was provided, erected and operated by Absolute Hollywood. Known as the Notch dome or the Skrillex dome, it was Absolute Hollywood’s 235 ft Celestial — the world’s largest air-supported inflatable dome, erected at the center of the stadium — for the invite-only party that Markus “Notch” Persson, the creator of Minecraft, threw to thank his fans. Skrillex, Diplo, DJ Snake and Team EZY performed inside a 360-degree projection-mapping experience built on the party’s “ancient glitch” theme — full interior fulldome projection with live exterior projection on the outside surface, seen across the stadium and the city beyond.
As a concert venue the large projection dome behaves like a room built for one audience: the projected surface wraps the crowd, and the sound field is mixed to the same geometry.

Events That Use Large Projection Domes
Fortune 500 and technology product launches. Automotive world premieres. Government and industrial inaugurations. Major music festivals, concerts and touring. Royal events and luxury weddings. International summits and world expositions inside large projection domes.
In Philadelphia, Absolute Hollywood created a 75-foot (23-meter) dome exclusively for Saint-Gobain’s 350th anniversary — the fifth pavilion of the “Future Sensations” world tour and the only stop upgraded to an immersive dome — marking the 350th anniversary and the grand opening of Saint-Gobain’s new production plant, standing at The Oval before the Philadelphia Museum of Art with a custom 360° show. Crowds queued around the site each evening. For The Marvel Experience, seven interconnected domes toured simultaneously. For DIRECTV at the Emmy Awards, the dome became broadcast architecture.
A dome is not a tent, and it is not a rented building. Erected with full 360° projection inside, it feels like a fixed venue purpose-built from the ground up for immersive 360° projection — the Vegas Sphere-class effect, in an event space that can become anything: a concert venue tonight, a product reveal tomorrow, a state dinner the night after. It can be placed anywhere on the planet, and it is available even when every premium venue in the city is sold out for your date — the venue of your desires, delivered to the site. This is a massive leap into the future of immersive technology, and a remarkable value for the experience delivered: the large projection dome carries its own structure, projection, audio and show control, and deploys to a stadium bowl, a city square, a parking lot or a desert site.

From Al Taweelah to Al-Zour — Industrial Launches at National Scale
In 2011, the Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) smelter launch at Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi put the Celestial at the center of one of the Gulf’s landmark industrial inaugurations — a full 360° immersive program with edge-blended projection mapping across the dome, delivered turnkey in the field, to national-ceremony standard.
In 2024, the Al-Zour Refinery inauguration in Kuwait did it again: a large projection dome rental deployment carrying a sovereign-scale industrial ceremony, delivered turnkey to the same standard.
Absolute Hollywood maintains established operations and repeat clients across the Middle East, India, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America — delivering large projection dome rental programs from a royal wedding in Doha to the Grand Opening of the New Suez Canal.

The Pioneer. Still Leading.
Absolute Hollywood built the first portable inflatable projection dome in 1999 and deployed it publicly at the Sands Convention Center in 2000, followed by the MGM Grand and the Luxor — 23 years before the Vegas Sphere.
When Barco, the industry’s leading large-venue projector manufacturer, published its FLM projector series, it chose an Absolute Hollywood dome for its own brochure — deployed in the center of Brussels for the European Commission’s Earth & Space Week in February 2005, as the Kyoto Protocol entered into force. The company that builds the projectors picked this dome to show what they could do.
Twenty-seven years on, the company continues to pioneer, design and push the envelope in large projection domes while others follow — including complete turnkey design, supply and sale of permanent and semi-permanent immersive dome venues for operators who want the room to stay.
The crew that raised the 200 ft Celestial for the Government of Qatar in Doha, Qatar is the same discipline that ships large projection domes today.

Bring a Sphere-Class Immersive Venue to Your City
Permanent and semi-permanent large projection dome venues are Absolute Hollywood’s fastest-growing line of work: multiplex immersive venues and dome cinemas — designed, engineered, installed, managed and programmed as one turnkey delivery. Structure, projection, media servers, audio, show control, content pipeline and ongoing 360° entertainment management, from opening night onward.
The Vegas Sphere proved what an immersive landmark does for a destination. An Absolute Hollywood large projection dome venue delivers the immersive experience at a fraction of the build cost, certified permanent per local ordinance, operational in months — in your city, at your resort, on your site.

Large Projection Dome Rental — FAQ
What is a large projection dome?
A large projection dome is an inflatable 360-degree theater beginning around 70 feet across. Most providers’ geodesic domes stop near 100 feet. Absolute Hollywood’s large projection domes span 70 to 900+ feet, with full interior and exterior projection mapping, deployed worldwide since 1999. The largest to date: the 200 ft Celestial for the Government of Qatar in Doha, Qatar.
How much does a large projection dome rental cost?
Cost depends on size, duration, location, and whether you need turnkey production or a bare shell. A 70-foot dome and a 235-foot Celestial are different orders of magnitude, and extra large projection dome rentals are quoted individually. Absolute Hollywood quotes every project directly — send your guest count, dates, and city.
How many guests fit in a large projection dome?
Capacity scales with floor area. A 70-foot dome holds about 800 guests standing; the 235-foot Celestial holds 8,700 across 43,373 square feet; extra large builds reach 40,000. Seated, banquet, and theater layouts run lower. Final capacity depends on staging and event format.
What is an extra large projection dome?
An extra large projection dome is any dome above 235 feet — the upper subset of the large class, which spans 70 to 900+ feet. Absolute Hollywood builds to 900+ feet and roughly 200,000 square feet, holding up to 40,000 guests. Most geodesic providers stop near 100 feet. See what size projection dome you need.

How does a portable projection dome compare to the largest permanent domes?
The largest permanent 360-degree projection structures are fixed in place. A portable dome of comparable scale ships by air freight, sea container, or overland transport, installs without cranes, and comes down again. The 235-foot Celestial covers 43,373 square feet — near an NFL playing field — and travels.
How big is the largest projection dome available?
Absolute Hollywood’s extra large projection domes reach 900+ feet and approximately 200,000 square feet — approaching five acres, or about three and a half football fields. At 43,373 square feet the 235-foot Celestial already exceeds any projection dome deployment on public record. Both are deployable and both ship worldwide.
How long does it take to set up a large projection dome?
A 235-foot Celestial dome stands in four days; three is achievable when the schedule demands it. Smaller large-tier domes are faster — about one day through 100 feet, one to two days from 100 to 150 feet, and three to four days at 160 feet and above. Projection installation runs on a separate timeline stated at quote.
Can a large projection dome be installed permanently?
Yes. Absolute Hollywood domes deploy as temporary event venues, as semi-permanent seasonal installations, and as permanent immersive venues and dome cinemas — designed, installed, managed and programmed turnkey, with ongoing 360° entertainment management. Structures are certified temporary or permanent per local ordinance. Rental, or a venue delivered and operated for you — tell us which at quote.

Does a projection dome need an internal screen or liner?
Not an Absolute Hollywood dome. These are positive-pressure air structures: air holds the dome up and the fabric itself is the projection surface, with no interior frame members in the projection path. Frame domes must hang an inner screen to conceal structural pipes before projection is usable. The Celestial projects clean without one.
Do you need cranes to install a large projection dome?
No. Absolute Hollywood large projection domes install with crew and standard equipment at any size to 900+ feet — crane-free, no geodesic steel, no weeks of construction. That is what makes stadium-scale immersive venues possible on event timelines, and in locations where heavy lift equipment cannot reach.
Can a large projection dome be deployed internationally?
Yes. Absolute Hollywood has deployed air-shippable large projection domes in 33 countries across six continents, shipping by air freight, sea container, and overland transport. Structures are engineered to local wind codes and certified to local ordinance in every market — temporary or permanent, meeting or exceeding code.
What events use a large projection dome?
Fortune 500 product launches, automotive world premieres, government and industrial inaugurations, major music festivals and touring productions, international summits, world expositions, royal and luxury weddings. The Celestial has carried the Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) smelter launch at Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, Skrillex at the LA Memorial Coliseum, and Amazon in Las Vegas.

How does the Celestial Dome compare to the Vegas Sphere?
The Sphere is a fixed venue with steep stadium seating. The Celestial gives you a level open floor, imagery wrapping the full 360 degrees around and above you, and nothing bolted down — stage a dinner, a product reveal, a summit. It ships worldwide, installs in four days without cranes, and travels to the event.
Are the domes fire-certified?
Yes. Every dome fabric carries dual fire certification — NFPA 701 in the United States and European M1, the strictest flame-retardant class. Structures are engineered to the required wind speed and certified temporary or permanent per local ordinance, meeting or exceeding code worldwide. Certification documents are supplied for permitting.
